I live about half an hour from Lyme and always take visitors to the Town Mill Bakery if we go the town because it is such a cool little place with great food, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit, and my friends always ask to go back the next time they come to stay.

Dear Scone Lover,

I would be most interested to get a full description of the perfect scone. Great Jam, in your case strawberry and oodles of cream are essential. Superb cup of tea essential too.

I know that you prefer juciy fruit, but what about the consistency. Some come out almost solid as if all the air has been compressed out of them, or do you prefer a light and airy scone. Do you prefer them moist or a little dryer.

What is your feeling about a scone straight from the oven, or eating them cold?

With much fascination, as one scone lover to another.

Don't go to Lyme Regis without stopping off here. We only popped in for a cup of tea but ended up chatting to the people sitting next to us for ages and sharing some cake with them! The staff were great and didn't try to hurry us on. If you like bread, cakes and all things delicious, this is the place to go!

I really rated these scones too! I am by no means a scone connoisseur though. Is it wrong to toast them and have them with a plasterers skimmer full of butter melting over the top, or it that sacrilege? By the way I found you whilst looking for their website which I know is on this world wide web somewhere, they are just hiding, damn them

Top blog! Of course, it's left me with a craving for jam and cream on scones, but I can survive that.

Just.
